Intravenous metronidazole in the treatment of ruptured amebic liver abscess

Abstract

Intravenous metronidazole was administered to a patient with peritonitis caused by a ruptured amebic liver abscess. The medication was well tolerated and the patient had a remarkable recovery. The intravenous administration of metronidazole was safe and efficacious therapy for this often fatal disease process.
