Dr. Chen is a graduate of National Defense Medical Center, Taipei, Taiwan.  He completed his residency and fellowship at Taipei Veterans General Hospital.  He earned his Ph.D. degree from the  Institute of Tropical Medicine, National Yang-Ming University, Taipei, Taiwan and now serves as an Associate Professor, Institute of Clinical Medicine.

His research interests include clinical microbiology, resistance mechanism, and development of new drugs.
