Dr. Philippe Parola obtained both MD and PhD degrees at the Faculty of Medecine of Marseille, France. He was then a postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, Massachusetts. His research interests include medical entomology, particularly tick-borne diseases, and tropical medicine. He is now Assistant Professor at the Medicine School of Marseille and Attending Physician in the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Unit at the University Hospital of Marseille.
