     Dr. Helmut Albrecht is Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine and Director, Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of South Carolina.  He completed his residency and fellowships at the University of Hamburg, Germany and Infectious Diseases at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia.  He was a faculty member at Emory University from 2001-2006.

     Dr. Albrecht is Board Certified in Germany and the United States.  He has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has written several book chapters.  Dr. Albrecht’s research interests include HIV and opportunistic infections.
