Eric Houpt, M.D., graduated from Emory University School of Medicine, performed residency training at the University of Chicago, and fellowship training at the University of Virginia, where he currently serves as Assistant Professor. Research interests include immunology and vaccine development for amoebiasis and the development of molecular diagnostic tests for enteric protozoa and AIDS-associated infections. Clinical interests are in mycobacteria. He operates a field site in Tanzania on the natural history and microbiology of enteric protozoa infection as well as the features of Tuberculosis in advanced AIDS.
