Bernard Fried is Kreider Professor Emeritus at Lafayette College, Easton, Pennsylvania, USA. He is the author or coauthor of more than 500 scientific publications, including articles, reviews, books, and book chapters. Dr Fried is a member of the American Society of Parasitologists, the Amercian Microscopical Society , the International Society of  Chemical Ecology, the Helminthological Society of Washington, and the American Malacological Society.  He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Helminthology and  is coeditor with Dr. Joseph Sherma of the yearly special issues of  the Journal of Liquid Chromatography and related Technologies devoted to thin layer chromatography (TLC). His latest coedited book (with Dr. Rafael Toledo of Valencia, Spain) was published by Springer in 2009 and is titled, "The Biology of Echinostomes: From the Molecule to the Community". Prof  Fried received a Ph.D in Zoology (Parasitology) from the University of Connecticut in 1961 and was an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow in Parasitology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA from 1961 to 1963. He was Professor of Biology at Lafayette College from 1963 to 2000 and is currently engaged in research on the biology of helminths and gastropods and applications of TLC to the biological sciences as an Emeritus Professor at Lafayette.
