Abigail Orenstein, M.D., M.P.H.

Abigail Orenstein obtained her undergraduate degree in English and American literature from Brown University.  She was awarded her medical degree with honors from George Washington University, where she also earned a degree in public health and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. At the University of Maryland in Baltimore, she performed internships in medicine and pediatrics, ultimately choosing to complete a residency in internal medicine. Currently, she is finishing a joint fellowship in infectious diseases (Tulane University) and critical care medicine at the National Institutes of Health. Her research relates to Pneumocystis jiroveci  pneumonia and the use of molecular diagnostic tools to better understand its epidemiology. She plans to pursue a career in international HIV/AIDS management
