Andrew Nowalk, MD, PhD, is a research instructor in pediatric infectious diseases in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.  He received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and his M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1999.  He completed his residency and chief residency in pediatrics as well as an infectious disease fellowship in the Department of Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.  His research interests include proteomic approaches to the investigation of Borrelia  infection as well as infections in short gut syndrome and intestinal transplantation.
