Lucia Sobrin received a medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine with Research Distinction, and completed her residency in ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in 2003.  She was a fellow in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary from 2003 to 2005 and in uveitis and ocular immunology at the Massachusetts Eye Research and Surgery Institute from 2005 to 2006.  She joined the faculty at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in 2006 as an Instructor and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2009.  She also completed a Master’s in Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health in 2009.   Her clinical practice is focused on posterior uveitis and surgical and medical vitreoretinal disorders.  Her research interests include the genetics of diabetic retinopathy and treatment outcomes in uveitis.
