Marcela Ferrés, M.D., MPH, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Infectious Disease and Molecular Virology Laboratory, School of Medicine, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.  Her primary research interests are pediatric infectious diseases, epidemiology, virology and emerging infections; particularly Hantavirus, Bartonella henselae and Respiratory viruses. 

Dr. Ferrés is the recipient of the Chilean Infectious Disease Society Award for best research project in Emerging Infectious Diseases in Chile (1999) and best research project and scientific report for Hantavirus Ecology and Disease in Chile (2003).
